You need to listen to actual citizens that are concerned with your ideas about Climate Change, and your misguided belief that Climate and Economy go together... They do not. The idea of Taxing Carbon to "discourage" it's use, and drive the new clean energy revolution is just PLAIN wrong. It's the right idea IF you continued further with it. 1. Cap and Trade - So, as I understand this concept... each Province is allotted a Max amount of CO2 Emissions. Once the province his hit that... they are required to pay a high tax. Now... As we all know, Alberta, and Ontario are the heavy hitters here... So, the "Trade" part of this is a Loophole that gives the polluters a Break because they can essentially "Buy/Use" what other non polluting provinces will never use. And the Taxes that the Government collects from the Carbon taxes... Well.... where is that Money going to be budgeted ? Have you said ? I don't recall... But I do know you see this as a great benefit to the Canadian economy... Hence your linking the two together... I happen to know you and the other politicians are not going to 100% use the revenue to produce Wind Farms, Solar farms. Better technology to store the generated people in cells. Also, the money should be spent offering retraining to a lot of the workers in the Tar sands.... and Immediately Cleanup must begin in Alberta. You plan to INCREASE the Oil production from the Tar Sands, somehow you think this is Ok, and as long as "you have a plan" which you like to tell us Canadians an awful lot, everything will be peachy. Well, No... it won't You were told last year that Canada is badly falling behind with our pledge to the Paris Emission Targets... You were told you need to re evaluate the current Emission goals and make more aggressive cut backs to Emissions, or else there may be sever consequences to our planet.... But... No...
